Perhaps spurred on by my discovery of APHND, I've been looking back in my music collection to the albums and/or musicians that meant a lot to me when I was a terrible teenager/young adult... That was before I became (for a few years) a boring middle-class, middle-income suburban nightmare... Which I'm luckily cured of (and my poor colleagues have to put up with my multiply pierced, drab tattooed self). Okay, granted, I do have a penchant for purple...
And my "terrible" taste…

I'm putting out a call for submissions for any APHND fans who'd like a bit o'the spotlight on my main blog. I'm looking for anyone who has any anecdotes related discovering or hearing about APHND, or memories of the members in action you'd like to share... Mail me at nerinedorman@gmail.com and I'll put it all together so we can spread the word. And, if you've got pics, that's a bonus (but please send low-res).

I decided to blog about my three "it" songs on one of my publishers' blogs today. These are three songs that inspire me to write, and of course I took the opportunity to slip a little about APHND into the mix somewhere. I'm totally bummed today. Received a text message this morning from one of my best friends, and a mutual friend of ours committed suicide last night. It would appear that 2011 is following its predecessor's trend. I lost someone very close to me last year in October. He was closer than a brother. And now this. A beautiful life snuffed out.
I've been on the brink a few times myself, twice with serious health issues, twice by my own hand. Every time I get to the edge and…

As always, from December 28 through to NYE, I get very introspective. While I don't believe in making new year's resolutions, I do believe it's important to take a step back and re-evaluate where I'm headed. NYE seems a good a time as any.
Three Goals for 2011:
1) Stop talking about it and get my bass under hand again to collaborate with a friend of mine on a version of Paranoid, and get our gothic metal chick project going. Why? Because we can and it's fun. And I'm…
