Open letter to the guys. ;-)

Dear Sal, Matt, Eddie, Johnny, Eric and Dave!

Some people, critics or reviews might simply state that APHND are some sort of follow up to Type O Negative or that APHND are mainly a group consisting of (ex-)members of several other groups (even though great ones). This might be true to some extent, and a comparison to Type O or Alice In Chains is certainly not the worst, but yet far too simple and wouldn't do you guys any justice.

I think it's not completely wrong to maybe…

Here's a little story I'd like to share with you Pale Soldiers.

Remember ”back then“ when APHND was new, we all got excited about the new album, the first tours and the photo contest on the new website?

Yes, sure you do and so do I.

Especially because there was one guy…

Thank you very much for being there, Malte.
We had a great time that night at the gig and afterwards hanging out with everyone.

Parker's are great instruments.  Very ergonomic, well built, nice and growly sounding, too.

Skill level shouldn't totally dictate instrument brand.  I mean, you wouldn't drop loads of money on something when you're starting out...that's just logical.

I've been playing for 31 years now and I have some cheapo basses that I've tricked out with EMG's and better bridges that are great instruments.

As far as basses go I have that Parker PB41 that I added an EMG BQC circuit to and upped the voltage to 18V as I play pretty aggressively, a '79 Rickenbacker 4001 that I made fretless and put an EMG-SA with EXB control under the hood, a Samick Corsair that has EMG P/J pickups and EXB circuit strung with flatwounds for that old-school Motown stuff, and an Epi EB-3 that's stock, except for and EMG SPC control.
If they were crap I wouldn't have bought/kept them.  Brand name can point you in the right direction, but there are a lot of diamonds in the rough that don't get attention.

One thing that always stuck with me that I was told by this old jazz cat when I was 12: "What do you need that Fender bass for?  If you can't say what you need to say on what you got, you ain't worth your salt. When I sit down to write a love letter my choice of pen is irrelevant.".  Very true words.

Be proud of what you say with what you play.

Catch you soon.

E.
